Rural hitch dropped but not used...so close to the road they just re-filled Hampton's ET directly. I believe that's ET-212 in the driveway, ET-112 on the street.

Structure is beyond 100% involvement at this point. There was more fire on the right side of the photograph, too.

Had a decent little brush fire going. It made some good runs when the wind gusted.

Not bad flames for six-month old leaf litter when the wind was behind it!

Minor spot fire, maybe 2' ahead of the main fire. One reason to rake your lines wide on a windy day, and have someone keep policing them until the fire is out. Today was a "Moderate" fire danger...compared to High w/ Red Flag yesterday. Could've been fun with the gusts pushing 35mph this time the day before!

Some Pomfret firefighters, without an engine up here yet, making a valiant effort to build a line with two shovels and a closet hook.

Little bit of smoke. Note the bits of crud on the lense, on a Very High or Extreme fire danger day these very well could've been embers that crossed the road.

ET-170 refilling ET-190. ET-190 had one of the lines off to handle the brush fire between the road and the remains of the building. ET-270 and ET-309 had gone up ahead to handle the head of the fire.

Bucket full of ice and bottled water. ET-209 refilling ET-290 which ended up as a base tanker in this operation.

ET-170 leaving after it filled up ET-190

ET-209 leaving for water.

Sweet! The state brought a Bombardier. DEP still has five of these guys in service. Unfortunately, it never got off the trailer :( This crew was out of the Squaw Rock Road DEP maintenance garage.

One of the laws of forest fires, when they hit a good control line they go out. ET-270 and ET-309 in the distance.

Dead hemlock flaring up.

State DEP testing their indian tanks before heading into the woods to police the fire line.

Car 12 explaining, apparantly, that the fire was "this big..." to the WINY Radio news reporter.

Car 296 questioning if Hampton's definition of a "road" and Atwood Hoses definition of a "road" are the same thing, something about it needing to be paved to qualify, preferably with little red things every 500'...
